A performance with a black cloth(performance)
I also tried to make a performance with contemporary dance with a black cloth. I found the black color as a symbol of death and ends of some events. I’ve never dyed my hair in my life, so I’ve been with this black color since I was born. And recently I found some white hairs in my head, and I thought that there is a big contradiction, because white color is recognized as a symbol of purity so it’s often used as for beginning of some events. I thought that it’s really interesting that I used to have a color of “The end” since the beginning of my life. And then I’m heading to “The start” as getting my white hair. I think “Contradictions” is very important element for my art. In the video, I focused on the color of my hair and eyes, and playing with the black cloth. The movement was inspired by one scene which was about a girl dancing in a rain from a film “Hana to Alice” directed by Shunji Iwai.
