This small doll was inspired from Japanese wrestler ‘Sumo 相撲’. My grandma likes sumo wrestlers because she thinks they are cute. But when I was a child, I felt like sumo wrestlers were scary because of their size. For becoming a sumo wrestler, one needs to be very very big. They have a special hotpot to encourage wrestler to be more bigger ’Chanko nabe’ which looks like a monster food for me.  So the sumo wrestler is a symbol of Macro for me. 

I read an article about the red color loincloth for a wrestler. Red is popular color for the loincloth but when a wrestler wore a bright red color, there were so many criticism after that. So I have chosen the bright red color to make my doll more individual and I wanted let the doll not to consider about public opinions to stand strongly. 

The doll is super small and looking weak but it always tries to be strong. Some people told me that the doll makes heart-wringing for them because ‘It’s too cute’. It means the doll has a potential to kill people because of its cuteness. Now I could understand why sumo is popular, because they are not only strong but also cute. I can understand that now, grandma.
